Meet the Owner
Hi! I’m Tracey Edwards, owner of Next Step Independence. I have a very long history of over 25 years, working in home and community. I started out as an outreach worker for the AIDS council in the Northern Territory and in New South Wales.
This gave me a strong background in mental health and drug addiction through outreach. I’m a strong advocate for human rights and equality for all. Hence why I’ve worked in all spaces of community work including Aged Care and Disability. I have a very strong affiliation with our First Nations People, the traditional custodians of the land, and have a passion for bringing quality and accessibility to good community and in home care to my community of all nations.
I have a beautiful child who’s on the spectrum, which has only enriched my life and enables me to be the best I can be. He is the reason behind my passion for working in the Disability Sector, and WHY I have decided to bring Next Step Independence to my community. I strongly believe in choice and control, and I support independence through capacity building, enabling you to engage in daily living, community and social support with absolute choice and control. So that you can live the life you want, the way you want.
